What Every Dentist Needs to Know About SEO

Amazingly this happens in a fraction of a second.

Search engines read a website like we read a book. As it reads your website the algorithm is looking for dozens of specific items in the code and content to help it understand what the website is about, what each webpage is about, and how important the website is compared to other websites. On average search engines read your website about once per month.

Why is SEO important?

Ranking high on search engines means you have a higher chance of getting new patients to call and eventually come to your office and in turn increase your bottom line.

Did you know there are over 1 million searches for dentists a day? And, in a study by MOZ (an internet search knowledge base), a #1 position in Google's search results received 18.2% of all click-through traffic. The second position received 10.1%, the third 7.2%, the fourth 4.8%, and all others under 2%.

Given that data, it's clear that ranking high on search results greatly increases your chances of patients finding you.

You can do several things on your existing website to increase your traffic naturally (check out this article we wrote last month with some specific tips) but generally to play in the top positions, you need to have a budget and be willing to invest in more robust marketing techniques. For instance, we typically see a spend of $100 - $200 per new patient depending on your location.
