As marketers, we often use acronyms to describe very important marketing items you’ll need to know if you’re stepping up your marketing game. Below is a list of the most important marketing acronyms for you to skim, study, and bookmark for use later if need be. Now you’ll be in the know! BR: Bounce RateBounce rate can be applied to email or websites. When talking about emails and BR, it’s referring to the number of emails that were undeliverable to their recipients in any given campaign. This can be because of badly written email addresses or out of date information. When used in reference to websites, it’s referencing the percentage of people that land on your page and then immediately leave for another website without going deeper into your site. A high website bounce rate is dangerous because it means your site visitors aren’t staying on your site long enough to get information from you thus the likelihood of them contacting you goes down as well and they become lost leads. CAN-SPAM: Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And MarketingIn 2003 a law was passed that gives recipients the right to have a company stop emailing them. CAN-SPAM is the reason why all company emails must have an unsubscribe option at the bottom. Violators of the CAN-SPAM law will face penalties as outlined in the U.S. law. CASL: Canadian Anti-Spam LawA Canadian Law passed in 2013 regulates email, texts, instant messages, and automated cell phone messages sent to computers and phones in Canada.
