Lewis B. Smedes "Many think of memory as rote learning, a linear stuffing of the brain with facts, where understanding is irrelevant. When you teach it properly, with imagination and association, understanding becomes a part of it." Tony Buzan As the quotes today highlight, the human memory is pretty squishy and not always the best at perfect recall. Our memory is part of our amazing capacity for association, generalization, and for finding meaning. What’s more is that your own specific memories can evolve over time to become more rich, vibrant, and interconnected to your whole life experience. Some memories are so painful that we fear what would happen if we ever went back to look at them again. However, if we realize that it is only by weaving, even the most difficult, memories into the fabric of our life that we become a whole and start to see our future. It is the dark and deeply textured background of life which helps the jewels of our experience sparkle even more brightly! Have a great week! ~ Mark |
